Generators we work on in Industria and Crown Mines
Factories and engineering works: Industrial generator services
Three-phase sets in Industria North and West carrying machine tools, compressors and extraction fans through every daytime load-shedding slot.
Steel and metal fabricators: Voltage problems
Welders, plasma cutters and bending machines pull short, heavy currents that an undersized or tired set cannot hold.
Warehouses and trade counters: Commercial generator services
Sets carrying roller doors, cold rooms, tills and card machines, idle for weeks and then run all day.
Motor and transport businesses: Shutting down or tripping
Workshops with vehicle lifts and compressors, and transport yards where one set carries office and workshop.
Repairs
Generator faults we fix in Industria and Crown Mines
AVR and voltage faults: Voltage problems
Low, high or swinging voltage from the AVR, exciter or rotating diodes.
Fuel and injector faults: Fuel system repairs
Contaminated diesel, blocked filters, air in the lines, lift pumps and injectors.
Overheating
Shutdowns from blocked radiators, failed fans, thermostats and coolant leaks.
ATS and changeover problems
The set runs but the building stays dark, or the load never returns to the mains.
Battery and charging faults: Battery not charging
Chargers, charge alternators and batteries that cannot crank the set when the mains fails.
Control panel errors: Control panel repairs
Alarms, lockouts and wiring faults on DSE, ComAp, SmartGen and other controllers.
Local conditions
Three-phase sets under welders and motor loads
A fabricator’s set in Industria West is loaded like nothing in a suburb: a welder strikes, a compressor starts direct-on-line and the voltage dips before the AVR catches up. When single-phase welders and lights all hang off one phase, that leg runs hot and trips while the other two idle.
Old premises mean old installations: a previous tenant’s changeover panel, cables across a yard, a set at the end of a tight internal road built for trucks. We measure the load phase by phase before blaming the alternator; see the kVA sizing guide and single versus three phase.
- Starting currents measured against the set’s rating
- Phases rebalanced where welders crowd one leg
- AVR, governor and changeover tested under plant load

Response
On site in Industria and Crown Mines in 1–2 hours
Technicians on site in 1–2 hours, 24/7. Crown Mines sits just off the M1 and M2, about 5 km from the CBD, and Main Reef Road runs west from here towards Florida and Roodepoort, so a technician comes in from town or the west. Say which gate to use, whether the internal roads take a bakkie and who signs contractors in.
While you wait, stay with the safe checks: fuel level, main breaker, emergency stop and the controller screen. Two tries of the start button is enough; the changeover panel stays shut. WhatsApp a photo of the nameplate, controller and hour meter so the likely parts travel with us; emergency generator repair covers a night-shift call.
Every make
Makes we repair in Industria and Crown Mines
We Service & Repair All Generator Brands. On Industria’s factory floors that means three-phase sets on Perkins, Cummins, Deutz, John Deere or Volvo Penta engines with Stamford, Leroy-Somer or Mecc Alte alternators and Deep Sea Electronics, ComAp or SmartGen controllers; at trade counters and workshops, silent diesels from Kipor, Bundu Power, Pramac and Mac Afric. Our brand pages cover each make.
Prevention
Why an Industria set fails twice
A set comes back when the cause outlived the repair: a new AVR fails under the same phase imbalance, new filters block on the same drum of diesel, and a cleared radiator packs up again if the intake still faces the fabrication bay. We fix what stopped the set and note what will stop it next.
Servicing avoids the second call. Our Industria and Crown Mines generator service and maintenance page covers what a factory-floor or yard service includes, how a month of daytime slots brings the next one forward, and the plans plant managers use. Generator repairs explains how a fault is traced; we also attend breakdowns in Ormonde and Aeroton, Fordsburg and Mayfair and Auckland Park and Melville, and across Johannesburg.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Our Industria West set trips every time the big welder strikes. Is the set faulty?
Often not: a welder’s short, heavy current drags the voltage down until the protection trips. We measure the dip, check phase balance and AVR response, and say whether the set is sized for it. See shutting down or tripping.
Can you repair the generator at our factory without stopping production?
Mostly, yes. Diagnosis and most repairs happen with the plant on mains; the loaded test and changeover work are booked between shifts. We work 24/7.
The set runs but one side of the workshop is dead. What is wrong?
Usually one phase: a burnt winding, a loose terminal in the alternator box or a tripped breaker on that leg. A technician’s job, with the set isolated; see running but no power.
Our warehouse set stood for months and now will not crank. Why?
Standing is hard on a set: the charger drifts, the battery sulphates and water settles under the diesel. We test battery and charger first, then the fuel; see generator not starting.
