Generator Repairs, Servicing and Maintenance Across Sandton
Sandton is a city within the City of Johannesburg, and its generators are as varied as its buildings: paralleled standby systems under the CBD towers, landlord sets at the office parks of Woodmead and Rivonia, gate sets at Bryanston’s complexes, workshop sets in Wynberg and Linbro Park, and portables at Alexandra’s shops. We repair, service and maintain all of them where they stand. Each part of Sandton has its own pair of pages below; this one shows how the suburbs differ and which page to read.

Why Sandton gets a hub of its own
Sandton is formally part of the City of Johannesburg, but nobody in Bryanston or Woodmead describes their generator as a Johannesburg problem. The financial district around Sandton City, Nelson Mandela Square and the Convention Centre, the bank, insurance and law-firm head offices around the JSE in Sandown, and the suburbs that fan out from them form a working area of their own, with its own roads, its own kinds of building and its own search habits. So Sandton has its own hub here, with a repairs page and a service & maintenance page for each of its parts.
The suburbs differ more than the name suggests. Under the CBD towers the generator is a building system: large diesel sets, often paralleled, feeding lifts, data rooms and hotels through changeovers that building management controls. In Bryanston, Morningside and Hyde Park it is a silent diesel on a garden plinth or a shared set at a complex gate. Along Rivonia Road and beside the Buccleuch interchange it is a landlord set serving a park of tenants. In Wynberg, Marlboro and Linbro Park it is a three-phase set under a workshop or warehouse load, and in Alexandra a portable behind a spaza shop or tavern.
That is why the pages are split the way they are. Each pair is written for its own kind of site, with the faults we see most there, the roads and access that shape a visit, and the servicing that stops a repeat callout. Start with the directory below, or with the pair that matches where your generator stands.

Across Sandton
The generators behind Sandton
Towers and head offices: Control panel repairs
Several large sets on a common busbar, tied into the building management system. The call is usually a changeover or a controller, not the engine, and the transfer test has to be booked with building management.
Hotels and the Convention Centre precinct: Load bank testing
Sets that must carry a full house without a flicker: kitchens, lifts, lighting and a conference hall mid-session. Load testing before the busy season matters as much as the repair.
Office parks and campuses: Commercial generator services
One landlord set feeding many tenants through one changeover, in a cage, a yard or a parkade, reached through park security. A UPS behind it refuses a supply whose frequency wanders.
Homes, estates and complexes: Residential generator services
Silent diesels on garden plinths, gas units at the house wall and shared gate sets owned by a body corporate. They stand for months, then carry a house through back-to-back slots.
Workshops and warehouses: Industrial generator services
Wynberg, Marlboro and Linbro Park run three-phase sets under compressors, lifts, conveyors and cold rooms, where a motor starting direct-on-line decides whether the set holds.
Shops, taverns and clinics in Alexandra: Portable and inverter generators
Petrol portables and small silent diesels kept for a till, a fridge or a vaccine fridge, where stale fuel, overloaded leads and exhaust in a passage are the usual trouble.
Access and timing
Working in Sandton’s buildings and estates
Most Sandton generators sit behind someone else’s gate: a tower’s security desk, an office park’s boom, a complex’s guardhouse. A visit starts with the technician’s details sent ahead and ends with the set back in automatic, and the one step tenants notice, the transfer test, is booked for the hour the building can spare. We work 24/7, so that hour can be early, late or at the weekend.
The M1 runs along the eastern side of the CBD, Rivonia Road runs north to the N1 Western Bypass, and the N1, N3 and M1 meet at Buccleuch beside Woodmead, so a technician reaches any part of the hub from more than one side. Technicians on site in 1–2 hours for a breakdown; for a planned service the date is set from the hour meter and the building’s diary.
Repeat callouts across Sandton have the same shape everywhere: a new battery under a charger nobody metered, a changeover reset rather than repaired, diesel that stood in a base tank through a quiet winter. A maintenance plan finds those at a service, with the mains still on, instead of in an outage.
- Technician details sent ahead to security
- Transfer tests booked around tenants and residents

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is Sandton covered from the Johannesburg page or from here?
From here. Sandton and its suburbs have their own hub and their own area pages, with Johannesburg, Randburg and Midrand as neighbouring hubs. The work is the same everywhere: on-site repairs, servicing and maintenance plans.
Which page should I read for a generator in Morningside, Paulshof or Edenburg?
Morningside is on the Sandton pages, Paulshof on the Sunninghill and Woodmead pages and Edenburg on the Rivonia pages. The directory above lists every suburb against its page; if yours is not named, call and we will confirm.
Do you repair generators in Wynberg, Linbro Park and Alexandra as well as the suburbs?
Yes. The industrial belts of Wynberg, Marlboro and Linbro Park and the shops and homes of Alexandra are part of the Sandton hub, each with its own pages: Wynberg and Marlboro, Linbro Park and Alexandra. Industrial generator services and portable generators describe that work in general.
Can you work on the paralleled systems under Sandton office towers?
Yes. We work on the engine, alternator, AVR and controller of each set and on the synchronising and changeover panels that tie them together, and report to the facilities team on what was found and done. Transfer tests are booked for an hour building management chooses.
Is the callout free, and which makes do you work on?
Free callouts and quotations, and work starts only once you accept the quotation. We Service & Repair All Generator Brands, from a petrol portable in Alexandra to the paralleled sets under a Sandown tower.
