Servicing

What a generator service in Centurion includes

A Centurion service often begins at a facilities desk or estate boom, with our details sent ahead. Hennopspark yard sets get extra time on air filters and radiators; seldom-run home and holding sets on stored diesel and the battery.

  • Engine oil and filter, with the fuel, air and water-separator filters
  • Coolant level and condition, radiator, hoses and belts
  • Starting battery load-tested, charger output and terminals checked
  • Fuel system checked for leaks, water and contamination, tank to injectors
  • Alternator, AVR, output connections and earthing checked
  • Controller settings, alarms and hour meter recorded
  • Test run under load: voltage, frequency and temperatures
  • Changeover (ATS) operation confirmed where fitted

You get a written record of what was done and found. The full list is in our service checklist; generator servicing explains the work and a maintenance plan keeps it on schedule.

Intervals

How often a Centurion generator needs a service

A service falls due at the hours or calendar interval in the engine maker’s schedule, whichever comes first. A park set running every load-shedding slot uses its hours within months; an estate home set ages by the calendar.

Our service intervals guide works the next date out from the hour meter; wet stacking explains the risk of light running.

Illustration of one day with two power cuts of two and a half hours each, at 06:00 and 18:00, while the generator runs. That is 5 running hours a day, about 35 a week and about 150 a month, and 2 starts and changeovers a day, 14 a week and about 60 a month. A service measured in running hours falls due in months rather than a year, and every start works the battery, charger, starter and changeover. Prevention

What a Centurion service catches before the outage does

Most Centurion breakdowns give notice at a service: a gate charger reading high is metered before it boils the battery, frequency drift shows on the load run before a Techno Park UPS refuses the set, and water under Hennopspark drum diesel is drained before it reaches the injection pump.

If the set has already failed, the Centurion generator repairs page covers the faults behind most callouts. We run the same plans next door in Midrand, Irene and Laudium and Erasmia; our Centurion hub page maps the rest.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you service our office-park generator without cutting the tenants’ power?

Yes. The engine work is done with the building on mains and the set isolated; only the transfer test moves the load, and as we work 24/7, facilities picks its hour.

Our estate’s gate set runs through every load-shedding slot. How often does it need a service?

Read the hour meter after a heavy month. A few slots a day add up, and the hours interval can arrive long before the yearly date.

Does a Hennopspark workshop generator need servicing more often than an office set?

Often. Workshop dust blocks air filters and radiator fins, and a set at full load under compressors uses its hours sooner. We clear both and sample the drum fuel each visit.

Our home generator in Eldoraigne runs only a few times a year. Is a yearly service worth it?

Yes. A standing set still ages: the battery sulphates, diesel draws water and hoses harden. A yearly service and monthly test run find that before a long outage does.

Do you service generators at schools and churches in Olievenhoutbosch?

Yes, small diesels and petrol portables: oil, filters, the spark plug or injectors, stale fuel and the leads in use, with advice on placing the set safely outdoors.
