Generator Service & Maintenance in Kameeldrift for Holdings and Estates
We service generators across Kameeldrift: borehole sets on smallholdings, three-phase sets at plot workshops, nurseries and farms, and standby sets at estates and guest houses. A plot set may idle for weeks, then carry house, cottages and pump at once, so each service ends with a run under that load.

Routine servicing in Kameeldrift
Borehole smallholdings: Generator servicing
In an outage the set fills the tank. It idles for weeks, so battery, charger, fuel and the pump start are proved.
Plot workshops: Industrial generator services
Three-phase sets carrying machines through outages, serviced by the hour meter and checked for phase balance.
Small farms and nurseries: Generator maintenance
Irrigation and shed loads peak in the growing season, so the service falls before the busy months.
Estates, guest houses and venues: Commercial generator services
Estate homes booked through the gate; guest-house and venue sets serviced between bookings, away from guests.
Servicing
What a generator service in Kameeldrift includes
On a Kameeldrift holding the set may live in a shed, a pump house or behind a workshop. The visit ends with the borehole pump or workshop motors started on generator power, and each phase measured on a three-phase set.
- Engine oil and filter, with the fuel, air and water-separator filters
- Coolant level and condition, radiator, hoses and belts
- Starting battery load-tested, charger output and terminals checked
- Fuel system checked for leaks, water and contamination, tank to injectors
- Alternator, AVR, output connections and earthing checked
- Controller settings, alarms and hour meter recorded
- Test run under load: voltage, frequency and temperatures
- Changeover (ATS) operation confirmed where fitted
You get a written record of what was done and found. The full list is in our service checklist; generator servicing explains the work and a maintenance plan keeps it on schedule.

Plans
Maintenance plans for Kameeldrift
Smallholding and borehole plans: Generator servicing
A yearly service, a monthly test that starts the pump on generator power, and the tank drained before the summer storms.
Workshop and farm plans: Load bank testing
Services by the hour meter, phase currents logged under the real machine load, and air filters checked between visits.
Estate home and HOA plans: Residential generator services
Visits arranged with the estate gate, a test run that proves the changeover, and one schedule for every set an HOA manages.
Guest-house, venue and cottage plans: Generator maintenance
The changeover proved before peak bookings, the cottage loads measured against the set, and a written record for the owner.

Prevention
What a Kameeldrift service catches before the outage does
Most breakdowns on the holdings show at a service first. Water from diesel drums appears at the tank drain before it reaches an injector, a dead charger in a hot shed shows on the meter, and an overloaded phase shows on the clamp meter before the set trips.
If the set has already failed, our Kameeldrift generator repairs page covers the faults we fix most and what to send us. We run the same plans in Silverton, Mamelodi and Montana and Sinoville, across Pretoria North and the wider Pretoria hub.
- Tank drained of water and sediment
- Charger output metered at the battery
- Phase currents logged on three-phase sets

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How often should a borehole generator on a smallholding be serviced?
At least once a year, and sooner if the hour meter reaches the engine manual’s interval first. A set that starts the pump many times in each outage works harder than its hours show, so we test that start every visit.
Our workshop generator is three-phase. Does the service cover the phases?
Yes. After the engine work we run the set with the workshop loaded and log the current on each phase. If one carries far more than the others, the report says which loads to move, and an electrician can move them.
We fill the generator from diesel drums. Does that change the service?
It adds to it. Drums standing in a shed gather condensation and dirt, so we drain water from the tank, change the fuel filters and look at how the drums are kept. See diesel fuel contamination.
Our guest house needs the generator only a few evenings a month. Is a plan worth it?
A seldom-used set is the one most likely to fail when it is needed: batteries sulphate, diesel ages and changeovers stick. A plan adds test runs between services, so the first start in an outage is not the first in months.
