Generator Service & Maintenance in Lanseria, From the Airport Estates to the Plots
We service and maintain generators across Lanseria: business-estate and hangar sets beside the airport, sets at lodges, venues and guesthouses, and the diesels that keep boreholes pumping on the plots along the R512 and R114. Every visit is booked around the site and written up.

Who needs it
Who needs routine servicing in Lanseria
Sets in Lanseria Corporate Estate and Lanseria Business Park carry warehouses and workshops through every daytime outage, gathering hours fast, so oil, filters and cooling follow the hour meter. Hangar sets wait for an outage at any hour; their batteries, chargers and changeovers must be proven, not assumed.
On the plots along the R512 and R114 the generator often keeps the borehole running, so a missed service means no water as well as no lights. Lodges and venues need a sound set before a full house; homes in estates such as Monaghan Farm run theirs so seldom that batteries and fuel age unused.
Servicing
What a generator service in Lanseria includes
In Lanseria the service often happens on a plot rather than in a plant room: the borehole pump’s start is checked with the set, stored diesel is sampled for water, and estate or airport access is booked ahead.
- Engine oil and filter, with the fuel, air and water-separator filters
- Coolant level and condition, radiator, hoses and belts
- Starting battery load-tested, charger output and terminals checked
- Fuel system checked for leaks, water and contamination, tank to injectors
- Alternator, AVR, output connections and earthing checked
- Controller settings, alarms and hour meter recorded
- Test run under load: voltage, frequency and temperatures
- Changeover (ATS) operation confirmed where fitted
You get a written record of what was done and found. The full list is in our service checklist; generator servicing explains the work and a maintenance plan keeps it on schedule.
Intervals
Service intervals for Lanseria generators
| The set | How it runs | When the next service falls due |
|---|---|---|
| Business-estate warehouse set | How it runsEvery daytime outage, under motor loads | When the next service falls dueBy the hour meter; a heavy load-shedding month brings it forward |
| Hangar or office standby set | How it runsEvery outage and a weekly test | When the next service falls dueYearly at least, with battery and changeover checked between |
| Borehole set on a plot | How it runsStarts the pump motor on every run | When the next service falls dueBy hours in a busy month; pump start checked each visit |
| Lodge or venue set | How it runsLong runs through functions and full weekends | When the next service falls dueBy hours, and before a large booked event |
| Estate home set | How it runsA few outages a season and a test run | When the next service falls dueBy the calendar: battery, diesel and hoses age unused |
Our service intervals guide reads the hour meter against the manual; wet stacking explains why light running harms a diesel.
Plans
Maintenance plans for Lanseria
Business-estate and hangar plans: Industrial generator services
Services by hour meter, a monthly run under the unit’s load, and a report landlord, tenant and insurer can read.
Plot and smallholding plans: Generator maintenance
A service that takes in the borehole pump’s start, stored diesel sampled for water, and battery checks between visits.
Lodge and venue plans: Commercial generator services
Services timed before booked functions, and the changeover cycled with the kitchen load on.
Estate and home plans: Residential generator services
A yearly service, test runs that prove battery and changeover, and one contact for the estate office.

Prevention
What a Lanseria service catches before the outage does
Most Lanseria breakdowns give warning at a service. A drifting charger is metered before the battery fails; water at the bottom of a plot’s diesel drum is drained before it reaches the injectors; a borehole pump that drags the voltage down is traced while the water still flows.
If the set has already stopped, the Lanseria generator repairs page covers the faults we see most and what to send before we arrive. We run the same plans in Chartwell, Diepsloot and Cosmo City, across Johannesburg North and through the Johannesburg hub.
- Charger output metered at the battery
- Stored diesel checked for water
- Pump start measured against the set’s kVA

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you service our generator in Lanseria Business Park without stopping work?
Yes. Oil, filters, coolant and battery are done with the unit on mains. Only the run under load and the changeover test move it onto the generator, so we book those after hours; we work 24/7.
Our plot’s generator mostly runs the borehole. Does it still need a full service?
Yes. Pump duty is hard work: a motor start on every run, often in dust. After the usual engine work we measure the pump start and voltage, so a weak set is found before the water runs out.
The diesel for our generator is kept in drums on the plot. Does that matter?
It can. Drums opened often draw in moist air and dust, and the water settles where the pump picks up. Each service checks the stored fuel as well as the set’s own tank; see diesel fuel contamination.
Our estate home set hardly ever runs. Why service it every year?
Standing still wears a set too: batteries lose capacity, diesel ages and collects water, hoses harden and an unused changeover can stick. A yearly service and test run prove it will carry the house.
